NET Exam Pattern

NET (National Eligibility Test) exam comprises two papers are Paper- 1 and Paper- 2. 

The UGC NET 2024 exam pattern for both papers contain multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and Students need to complete both the papers in a single/same duration of 3 hours.

NET Exam Eligibility Criteria

NTA (National Testing Agency) is conducting the UGC NET ( National Eligibility Test) instead of the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) and the test is primarily designed to classify students for university lectureships programs  and Junior Research Fellowships.

  • Nationality:

Nationality plays an important role as an eligibility  for the UGC NET exam as only Indian citizens can take part in the UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) .

Citizens from other countries than India cannot apply for the UGC NET (National Eligibility Test).

  • Educational Qualifications:

The students who are pursuing master’s or have completed from a recognized institute are eligible for UGC NET 2024. 

The educational qualification criteria is given as follows:

  • For General / Unreserved Category: 55%
  • Transgender & PwD: 50%
  • SC & ST: 50%
  • Other Backward Classes: 50%
  • Age Limit:

Candidates whose age is below  30 years are eligible for the UGC NET exam. OBC/SC/ST/PwD students are given additional relaxation of 5 (five) years.

  • Female candidates (All categories): 5 Years
  • SC/ST/OBC/Transgender/PH: 5 Years
  • Candidates with LLM Degree: 3 Years
  • Candidates from Armed Forces: 5 Years
