What is PSC Full Form?

The PSC’s full form is the Public Service Commission and it is a central administration that is responsible for managing the exams that are conducted for jobs under different categories. The Public Service Commission was set up under Article 315 to 323 of the constitution of India.

What is PSC? 

PSC stands for Public Service Commission and the Public Service Commission (PSC) is the principal state government recruitment agency. PSC administers civil service, defence, engineering, and medical exams, among other things. The PSC also recruits the majority of the state government’s Group-A officials. Exams are also used to select Group-B cadre officials.

PSC Exam Pattern

The State PSC exam starts with the written test and in the final stage there is an interview. The written exam in itself consists of two parts:- a preliminary exam and a main exam given below;

  1. Preliminary exam:- The first stage of the written exam and basically serves the purpose of filtering or screening of candidates. The exam consists of multiple choice questions that are based on general knowledge as well as current affairs. This test is designed in such a way that it examines the knowledge and understanding of the candidates.
  1. Main Examination:-There are certain subjects that are included in the same that include general English, General Knowledge, Maths and History and Culture of the State. This stage consists of tests that examine how well the candidate has knowledge of the subjects.
  1. Personal Interview:-The last and final level in the process of selection of the State PSC exam. This interview provides a chance to the candidates to demonstrate their potential, worth and suitability for the respective post. In this stage, candidates can show their communication skills, understanding as well as their knowledge of their respective state as well as its culture. The personal interview is conducted to see the suitability of the candidate for the respective role. It is conducted by a group of experts.

Eligibility Criteria for PSC 

Individuals eligible to apply for the UPPSC exam include:

  • Indian citizens
  • Subjects of Bhutan or Nepal
  • Tibetan refugees relocating to India to settle permanently before January 1, 1962
  • People of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire), Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanent settlement in India.

UPPSC Eligibility 2024 includes marital status considerations and male candidates having multiple living wives and female candidates marrying individuals already married are ineligible, except when exempted by the Honor Governor.
